General Policies for Use of the Great Lawn

  • Vehicles are NOT allowed on the Great Lawn. Vehicles include but are not limited to: Trucks, cars, trailers, towable generators, towable light towers, ATVs, or any vehicle with wheels whether motorized or not.

  • User must submit proposed layout stating detailed use of the Great Lawn (i.e. equipment, number of people, UHWO resources, etc.) a minimum of 30 days prior to the requested event date.

  • Layout and availability of UHWO resources must be approved by UHWO Food Services/Events (FSE) and Planning and Campus Operations (PCO).

  • UHWO FSE and PCO must inspect and approve equipment and proposed location of equipment i.e. staging (plywood is required for all staging), tents, etc. prior to the authorization of the use of the Great Lawn.

  • Any approved equipment must be properly secured i.e. stakes, sandbags. (Water barrels are NOT allowed).

  • UHWO Facilities Department must locate and flag all sprinkler lines prior to set up of approved equipment on the Great Lawn.

  • Prior to securing/staking equipment on the Great Lawn, a representative from UHWO FSE/PCO must accompany the vendor/responsible party to visually inspect and approve the final installation. All sprinkler lines must be avoided.

  • At the discretion of UHWO FSE/ PCO, vehicles may access the Great Lawn via the fire lane for ACTIVE loading and unloading. A lane clearance of 24 feet wide must be maintained at all times.

  • User is responsible for securing equipment at all times.

  • No equipment shall remain on the Great Lawn for more than a 12-hour period.
