HCATT Internship
HCATT is looking for veteran students for two positions: An Enginnering Intern and Communications intern. Application deadlines are rolling, and pay is approximately 1000.00 per month, based on the start date during the school semester.
Engineering Intern
As an engineering intern, you will be tackling the latest energy issues and challenges in Hawai’i and globally. This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards an Engineering or Environmental Science degree within an accredited program. The candidate will gain experience in energy system analysis and real world renewable energy demonstration work.
Primary Responsibilites
● Perform technical assessment of potential hydrogen demand in the state of Hawai’i for various applications
● Model and analyze operational requirements of hydrogen use in different realistic scenarios (energy storage, hydrogen generation, backup power, maritime, airports and rail)
● Develop plans and specifications and basic techno economic data on hydrogen applications
● Assess state of the art energy technologies and perform comparative analysis with hydrogen use
● Identify technological and regulatory challenges in adopting hydrogen fuel cells for the aforementioned applications in the State
● Identify current technology gaps and lessons learned on early hydrogen projects in the State
● Deliver a technical report and presentation of findings at the end of the internship
Minimum Qualifications
● Must be currently-enrolled college student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or related fields
● Strong interest in energy and climate issues and desire to learn and build skills
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Communications Intern
As a Communication Intern, you will support HCATT’s overall communications and marketing strategy through organization promotion, education and outreach, event coordination, digital content production, email and social media content, and managing our website. Our website is a critical piece of our operation, as it is where the public can find HCATT’s information, latest updates, or information on the latest hydrogen & fuel cells development. We are looking for someone with skills and interest in marketing and communications development through digital platforms, including some web development to support the growing needs of our organization.
Primary Responsibilites
- Produce education content (e.g. infographics, brochures, photos, videos, articles) related to clean energy in the State of Hawaii
- Curate newsletter covering clean energy and hydrogen fuel cell news, trends and events
- Develop new content and social media campaigns to drive traffic growth and thought leadership
- Analyze deployed social media strategy and provide insights and recommendations for future campaigns
- Lead and maintain a social media content calendar (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Analyze and profile target audience for social media campaigns and other promotional efforts Monitor performance of HCATT website using Google Analytics (i.e. traffic, audience demographics, download rates, etc.)
- Track performance of digital marketing pieces such as e-newsletters, social media posts, and banner ads, including link clicks and content trends
- Research and apply basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices
- Maintain website to help keep site attractive and user-friendly
- Research and potentially create special website tools & features to enhance customer experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a currently-enrolled college student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, Communications or related fields
- Strong interest in digital marketing, website design or development and desire to learn and build skills
- Basic experience with Google Analytics
- Basic understanding of website layout and digital content formatting, including resizing and embedding of images and videos
- Familiarity with website content management software (Wix, WordPress or similar) and/or HTML coding
- Awareness and curiosity for clean energy and helping the community
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
