First Year Student Orientation

After high school graduation, your first college semester is a new chapter in your life. In order to ease the transition, UH West O'ahu offers several experiences through Freshman Orientation.

Your orientation consists of a series of three specially designed interactions with students, faculty, and staff to help you with academic planning, degree requirements, student life, and what you need to know to be successful in college. The Orientation experience is broken into three parts: online videos, registration and advising, and concluding with La Punua Days Orientation in August, all of which help to build a strong foundation in your first year at UHWO.

Topics Covered

In this section, you'll be covering the following topics

  • General Education
  • Advising Tips
  • Star GPS Registration
  • Laulima
  • Title IX

After each video, you will be asked to take a quiz to assess your understanding of each video. This is to ensure that you understand the material because this is important to help you register for your classes and prepare you for Orientation and Registration in July. You must pass with a 100% in order to move to the next video.
