Online training for harassment, discrimination, violence prevention

A message from University of Hawaiʻi President David Lassner in an email dated Feb. 28:

Aloha colleagues,

The University of Hawaiʻi is committed to ensuring that all members of our community are afforded a respectful and inclusive environment in which to work and study, and where sexual misconduct of any form is not tolerated. Even with growing awareness, issues of workplace conduct, sex discrimination, and other forms of harassment and violence are still common on college campuses nationwide. UH is offering the following online trainings to educate employees about their rights, responsibilities, and available resources:

  • Workplace Violence Prevention & Awareness
  • Preventing Harassment and Discrimination (Title IX, Sexual Harassment, VAWA)

On March 1, UH employees will receive email invitations from Vector Solutions Online Training, sent on behalf of the UH System Office of Institutional Equity and the UH System Office of Human Resources. The email will have links to the two training sessions, which will take an average of 70 minutes to complete. Vector Solutions Online Training replaces all previous online Title IX training providers.

All employees are strongly encouraged to participate. If you have not taken online Title IX training during the current training period (July 2021 to the present) and did not receive an email from Vector Solutions Online Training, please check your spam folder.

More information on online training is available:

The training content may remind you of upsetting experiences. For information on community and campus resources, Title IX Coordinator contact information, UH non-discrimination policies and guidance, and online Title IX training, please visit the UH Title IX and Office of Institutional Equity website.

Let’s all do our part to help create an environment free of discrimination, harassment, and/or the threat of violence so employees and students are able to focus on their work and studies.

Mahalo nui loa for your time and consideration,

David Lassner
UH President
