Every semester, the UH West Oʻahu Student Life Center coordinates the Pueo Awards Ceremony and Reception that highlights and recognizes leadership, service and excellence. You are invited to nominate and/or submit an application for any of the leadership excellence awards below.

RECOGNITION FOR GRADUATING STUDENT LEADERS
Eligible college senior-class standing must have served in a leadership capacity of a student organization (RISO or CSO) for at least two semesters and are graduating this semester. Deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. HST, Monday, April 17.
EMERGING LEADERSHIP AWARD
The Emerging Leadership Award recognizes students who are in their beginning years of leadership and service. Applicants shall demonstrate potential and promise for greater success. Applicants must be classified students with a sophomore- or junior-level credit standing.
Other award requirements include serving at least two semesters in a student leadership capacity in a student organization (RISO or CSO). Past recipients of the award cannot apply again. Deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. HST, Monday, April 17.

STUDENT SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP DISTINCTION
The Student Service and Leadership Distinction Award recognizes students who have served the needs of fellow students during their college career and have outstanding leadership skills. The award recipient must also have made a significant contribution by planning a program or activity, advocating on student concerns or issues and helping make the campus culture a positive experience for students. They also will be recognized for going beyond what other students are contributing to the campus.
The Student Service and Leadership Distinction Award is given in two categories – students can apply for this distinction either in the campus-wide contribution category or the program/co-curricular specific category. The common requirement for both awards is being a classified UH West O`ahu student graduating this semester. Deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. HST, Monday, April 17.

Student organization advisors play a critical role in the development of student leaders and organizational development. Advising a student organization is voluntary and your advisor dedicates time, energy and resource to provide leadership, support and guidance to you and your student organization. Nominate your student organization advisor, today!
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this award, the person must be a student organization advisor, who is employed at the University. The organization must be registered with the Student Life Center for the current academic year (2022-2023). The advisor must have provided leadership and service between August 22, 2023 and the present.
Criteria:
The successful advisor for this award will have displayed significant effort for the improvement of the organization and therefore exhibited progress in the development of the organization. This could be demonstrated through the following:
Empowered students to take responsibility for their own learning and understanding of the organization while providing advice, encouragement, and support to student organization members
Conveyed values of integrity and respect. Related well to individual students.
Made self available to others, approachable and open to new ideas. Valued initiative and student input.
Utilized different and creative approaches to educating, advising and supporting student members.
Served as a positive role model
Assisted and supported student organization to reach its goals

RECOGNITION AT PUEO AWARDS CEREMONY
Recipients of each of the awards will be recognized in-person at the Pueo Awards Ceremony and Reception on Wednesday, April 26, 3 p.m. at UH West Oʻahu Campus Center C-208 Multipurpose Room. More info to come.
