Collective Bargaining Adjustments for Bargaining Units 01, 02, 03, 04, 07, 08, 09, 10 and Excluded Counterparts

Aloha,

The Office of Human Resources, in coordination with University of Hawai‘i Payroll, Information Technology Services, and the Office of Systems Integration, are working to implement HGEA, UHPA and UPW collective bargaining adjustments for effective dates July 1, 2021 through October 1, 2022.

Below please find effective dates and pay dates for these collective bargaining adjustments. Please note these are projected pay dates and may be subject to change.

Effective July 1, 2022 – new salary schedule for Units 02, 04, 08 (11-month), and 09 and percentage increase for Unit 07(11-month)

  • Pay Date July 20, 2022 for lag employees
  • Pay Date August 5, 2022 for after-the-fact employees

Effective August 1, 2022 – new salary schedule for Unit 08 (9-month) and percentage increase for Unit 07 (9-month)

  • Pay Date August 18, 2022 for lag employees
  • Pay Date September 2, 2022 for after-the-fact employees

Effective July 1, 2021 (retroactive) – lump sum payment for Units 01, 02, 03, 04, 07, 08, 09, and 10

  • Pay Date September 20, 2022 for all employees

Effective September 1, 2022 – new salary schedule for Units 10

  • Pay Date September 20, 2022 for lag employees
  • Pay Date October 5, 2022 for after-the-fact employees

Effective October 1, 2022 – new salary schedule for Units 01 and 03

  • Pay Date October 20, 2022 for lag employees
  • Pay Date November 4, 2022 for after-the-fact employees

Please advise employees who need to make changes to tax withholdings based on these updated pay rates and lump sums to visit the Hawaii Information Portal (HIP) at https://hip.hawaii.gov to update their information.

Please also advise employees who need to make changes to deferred compensation deductions for the collective bargaining adjustments or lump sum payments according to the dates listed above to ensure the changes are made according to the scheduled payment dates and timelines set by their 457(b) Island Savings Plan or their 403(b) Saving Plan carrier.
