Distance Learning Tip of the Week – Two cool Google features

No. 1 Save time with all-in-one Google Docs and Gmail drafts

Open a Google Doc and type the @ symbol. This brings up a new search menu of people you’ve recently contacted, files you’ve opened, and other ‘building blocks’ including Email draft. Click the option to drop an email template into your document and add a recipient, subject line, and text to take next steps without leaving the task at hand. Click the blue M to save to your Gmail drafts folder. Building blocks (Meeting notes and Email draft) can also be found in the Insert tab. For details, see Draft emails from Google Docs.

No. 2 Determine authorship in group Docs

Ever wonder who composed a section of a collaborative Google Doc? Find out by highlighting the passage in question. Right click and select Show editors. This new feature makes it easy to track student contributions to group projects, too.
