University Band Winter Concert, Nov. 26

The UH West Oʻahu University Band Winter Concert will take place 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, at the Michael D. Nakasone Performing Arts Center on the Pearl City High School campus. There will be a pre-show at 3:15 p.m. featuring the UH West Oʻahu Hawaiian Ensemble.

Enjoy a program of beautiful band music performed by UH West Oʻahu’s University Band directed by Chad Kamei. The program includes a world premiere of an arrangement by Reid Ishikawa of HRM Liliʻuokalani’s Kuʻu Pua i Paoakalani, with singer Starr Kalāhiki, who joins the band with support from SEEDS Ideas Fund. (The arrangement is part of a larger band arrangement commissioning project entitled “A Musical Journey for Concert Band: Songs from the Eddie Kamae Songbook,” with support from the ‘Ūpena Moananuiākea Title III Grant.)

A pre-concert show by the Hawaiian Ensemble begins at 3:15 p.m. featuring mele from the Eddie Kamae Songbook by UH West Oʻahu’s Hawaiian Ensemble, directed by Jon Magnussen.
