10-digit dialing mandate began Oct. 24
All telephone users need to dial 10-digit telephone numbers to make a call, following an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) mandate that began Oct. 24. (See https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/
If you are using your campus telephone to make a call off campus, you will need to dial 9 and all 10 digits of a telephone number, i.e. 9 808 956 8883. You can still dial the four-digit extensions for on-campus calls, i.e. 2411.
For those of you who are using the Reach Me or Notify Me features on the campus phone system, please make sure that you add the area code to your phone number that you are using for these features. If you do not make these changes, the Reach Me and the Notify Me features will not work. For more information on this, please see the “Ten-Digit Dialing At UH” article https://www.hawaii.edu/askus/
