Join us from 11a-12:30p as the poets of What We Must Remember engage our campus community in a poetry reading as well as a talk story about the writing process. The book of poetry focuses on one of the most high-profile scandals in Hawaiian history, the Massie-Kahahawai affair. The event, which began in 1931 while Hawaii was still a territory, sparked a bitter race war and resulted in the death of Joseph Kahahawai, a local man. Here’s a video of a similar reading at Leeward Community College: https://youtu.be/FccFTr831H0.

Dry snacks will be provided and there will be prize drawings. This event is a collaboration between Andy Godefroy and the Library. The book of poetry was sponsored by the Hawaii Council for the Humanities.
