The University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu Student Organic Garden Community Workday welcomes volunteers to help tend to the garden and learn how to make compost, transplant seedlings and more.

The hands-on workdays will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on the following Saturdays this semester: Sept. 5, Oct. 3 and Dec. 5. Participants will meet in Hale Kuahuokalā at the garden (māla), located on campus adjacent to the Classroom (D) and Laboratory (E) buildings.

Event organizers invite the campus community to join in for a day of fun and sun — to mālama ‘āina together and strengthen pilina with each other. The workday will be followed by a potluck.

The garden community workdays are open to UH West O‘ahu students, faculty and staff, and community members. Participants should bring reusable water bottles, use sun protection and wear closed-toe shoes. Please email tasiay@hawaii.edu to RSVP or for more information.
