Join in on a talk story and mix-sharing session with a Grammy-nominated producer, mixing engineer, and songwriter at Music Talk Story with Imua Garza, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, in C-131, the Nāulu Center Ho‘okipa Room at the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu.

Garza has immersed himself in the world of music since 1995, according to a description of the event. After the success of his band ‘Opihi Pickers on the local and international music scene, Garza has since grown his performing and production abilities, started a production company, recording studio, and record label, and built working relationships with production companies like Sony Music, Secret Road Music Services, and Marmoset.

“This is a great opportunity to hear a story about following a passion and building a business from that passion,” said Dr. Jon Magnussen, professor of Music at UH West O‘ahu. “From humble beginnings recording music in their child’s bedroom, Imua Garza and his wife Tiffa grew a Grammy-nominated production company, recording studio, and record label, and more.”

The event is presented by the UH West O‘ahu Humanities Division | Music Certificate with support from SEED Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access and Success (IDEAS).

UH West O‘ahu students, faculty, and staff, and the general public are welcome to attend Music Talk Story with Imua Garza. Please contact Magnussen for more information at 808-689-2357 or email jonmagnu@hawaii.edu.
