‘Ono snacks, free boba drinks for students, an inflatable obstacle course, fun bonding activities, and much more, are all part of the festivities at the first ever #WestBound Fair, happening from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at the University of Hawai‘i–West O‘ahu.

The event is organized by UH West O‘ahu’s Heading West Bound team — comprised of faculty and staff from the Nāulu Center — in collaboration with Kauluhāweo Native Hawaiian Student Success Programs and the Associated Students of UH West O‘ahu (ASUHWO) student government, in an effort to foster the connection between students and community. (See flyer below.)

“We encourage all UH West O‘ahu students and their families to attend the fair so they can experience a campus life event that they may not have previously been able to due to the pandemic,” said Christielove Espinosa, Heading West Bound team member and Papahana Wailau Ola Program Success Advisor.

Espinosa continued, “It is a great opportunity to build meaningful connections with our university resources, organizations, student clubs, and our broader community participants. Students will get to experience a campus culture shift, which they can also look forward to throughout the year as more events like this will be put on!”

The fair is free and open to all UH West O‘ahu students, who are asked to check in for the event at the Nāulu Center at Campus Center.

Organizers said the #WestBound Fair is one of many events being held throughout the summer to promote the excellence that is UH West O‘ahu, our Honouliuli community, and broader Hawai‘i.

Also coming up is the Summer Bash Experience, happening from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at the UH West O‘ahu Outdoor Learning Space and Great Lawn. (See flyer below.)

The event aims to celebrate students’ accomplishments over the past school year and summer, and draw excitement for the start of the new school year. There will be inflatable slip-and-slides, water slides, and other water or field activities, as well as shave ice and cotton candy for all fee-paying students.

If students have questions about these and upcoming events, or about additional student support services available to them, they can email pwo@hawaii.edu or nhssp@hawaii.edu.
