The University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) honored more than 120 students who were inducted for the spring 2021 and fall 2020 semesters into the nation’s largest leadership honor society.

The NSLS provides a leadership program that helps students achieve personal growth, career success, and empowers them to have a positive impact in their communities, according to its website. With 724 chapters, the organization currently has more than 1.4 million members nationwide. The UH West Oʻahu Chapter of NSLS was established on Feb. 5, 2018.

Students who are invited to join the society must complete the following steps toward induction: attend orientation, leadership training day, and three speaker broadcasts featuring leaders from diverse industries and professions; and participate in a success networking team that meets three times over a given semester. All new members completed the steps toward induction remotely/virtually.

The broadcasts, or NSLS Speaker Series, featured professionals from across industries, disciplines, and sectors sharing their insights and perspectives about leadership. The spring 2021 speakers were Erica Dhawan, Dr. Bernice A. King, and Bill Gates. The fall 2020 speakers were Jack Black, Bill Nye, and Matthew McConaughey.

NSLS membership provides access to benefits including mentorships, scholarships and awards, jobs and internships, social events, and more.
