Congratulations to our University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu faculty and staff members on the following notable selections this semester:

Dr. J. Burrell, assistant professor of Information and Computer Science and director of the Cyber Security Research Laboratory at UH West Oʻahu, was selected as a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). ACM is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, and delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession.

According to the ACM website, “The Senior Members Grade recognizes those ACM members with at least 10 years of professional experience and at least 5 years of Professional Membership in the last 10 years, who have demonstrated performance through technical leadership, and technical or professional contributions.”

Dr. Camonia Graham-Tutt, assistant professor of Community Health, was selected to be part of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaiʻi Young Professionals sixth Mentor Hawaiʻi Program cohort. This year’s program has paired 27 young professionals with business and community leaders for one-on-one mentorship over six months. Graham-Tutt has been paired with mentor Lisa Truong Kracher, President and CEO of Staffing Solutions of Hawaiʻi and Kahu Malama Nurses.

“In this program, I will be afforded the opportunity to connect with local business and community leaders throughout Hawaiʻi,” Graham-Tutt said. “I look forward to building more local community and business connections in the area of health and healthcare for our students.”

Dr. Melissa Saul, director of the Institute of Engaged Scholarship, was selected to be part of the 2021 cohort of the LeadMe program, which provides mentoring and professional development support from the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) Educational and Professional Development Committees of Regions VI and VII.

The one-year program strengthens and increases the number of new and emerging leaders to serve the profession and NCURA at the regional and national levels, focusing on providing educational and professional development experiences to selected mentees, according to the NCURA Region VI website.
