Participate in screen printing, learn about the history of Hae Hawaiʻi, and hear a presentation on Aloha ʻĀina at Welo Mau on Sept. 25, as part of the Kūkahi Series. The event, which runs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Nāulu Center, is hosted by the Kahiau Hawaiian Club in collaboration with Nalimakui Native Hawaiian Council – UH West Oʻahu and Kupu Ka Wai Native Hawaiian Council – Honolulu Community College. Welo Mau is open to students, faculty, and staff.
Kupu Ka Wai will host a screen printing activity. Bring no more than two items such as a T-shirt or bag (canvas recommended). The print will be in black ink and it is recommended that participants do not bring dark- or black-colored items for printing.
Kūkahi, a moon phase and meaning to stand as one, is a series dedicated to educating the University of Hawaiʻi-West Oʻahu community on aloha ʻāina through the principles of Kapu Aloha. The purpose is to create a space in which students, faculty, staff and community members are able to share experiences of aloha ʻāina and engage in meaningful and healthy dialogue on how we continue to support aloha ʻāina through education. Kūkahi is also meant to foster and nurture relationships between the UH campuses. Kahiau Hawaiian Club, working with Nālimakui Native Hawaiian Council, invited all Oʻahu Hawaiian councils at the UH campuses to come host aloha ʻāina guest speakers and cultural workshops.
