III. Faculty Senate Chair's Report
- ACCFSC
- General Education Systemwide General Education update. Request that was submitted was then withdrawn. The effort is ongoing, and a representative will be selected for UH West O`ahu. One from each campus and four from UH Manoa.
- Presidential Search. Reflection on NPR on President Lassnerʻs tenure and the presidential search. Chair was unable to attend second interview. Did attend Wendy Hensel and found her presentation encouraging.
- Highlights: “Faculty governance is not a nuisance.” Importance of online and in-person instruction
- Standing Committees to be established.
- Charter Review Committee, a newly convened committee to be headed by Sen. Monique Mironesco.
- Project Based Learning courses (20 student cap) – to be headed by Dr. Orlando Garcia-Santiago.
IV. ASUHWO Update (President Sydney Whitley)
- New Members: Sspecial elections held last month, and 6 out of 11 open positions applied for. Unofficial Election Results announced on 10/10
- Pueo Pilina: Helped to plan and sponsor with other CSO’s. Entertainment, food, giveaways and arts & crafts. Good cooperation between other CSO’s to help familiarize ourselves with one another and work together in the future.
- Ongoing: New Senators began planning out initiative for this semester. Returning Senators are finishing up initiatives from Spring 24.
- General Senate Meeting – Next meeting is October 14th at 5:30pm. Meetings occur twice a month, currently every 2nd and 4th Monday. After election officials conclude meeting day and time may change due to new member availability.

VIII. University Budget Advisory Committee (Sen. Thomas Scheiding, Faculty Senate Representative, and Aldayne Adlam, Faculty Representative)
- September meeting – Kyle from fiscal office presented the budget for the campus
- Explanation for academic affairs, administrative affairs and student affairs – need to present a balanced budget but also to deal with Chancellor’s priority of reducing expenditures in order to keep up with other payments.
