Dr. Hayes is an Associate Professor in the Division of Education. He teaches courses in the Foundations of American Education, Introduction to Teaching as a Career and Early Field Experience. He also supervises student teachers in their field placement. His scholarship is focused on rethinking the interconnection of Global Citizenship and Education through the concepts of imagination, poiesis and design. Recent publications include "Imagination as method" in the International Journal of Qualitative Studies and  "Utopia: An imaginative, critical and playful dialogue on the meaning and practice of contemporary education" in the Journal of ELearning and Digital Media. Dr. Hayes conducts qualitative research through documentary film and his recent film on peace activism in Palestine is titled "I Stay Here" . He is the former editor of the International Journal of Illich Studies.
