Constitution Day

The University of Hawai’i West O’ahu observes Constitution Day which recognizes the day the United States Constitution was adopted and those who have become U.S. citizens.  The campus offers events and programs related to the Constitution on September 17th.

A U.S. federal policy requires that Constitution Day be held on September 17 of each year, commemorating the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution.

[Section 111 of Division J of Pub. L. 108-447, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005,” Dec. 8, 2004; 34 CFR 86]

However, when September 17 falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, Constitution Day events will be held during the preceding or following week.

Check back in late August to see what events will be held for this year.
