University Security Officer I (USO I)

Provide for the protection and security of personnel and property on the University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu campus on a 24-hour basis, 365 days a year.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to those mentioned below):

  • Patrol campus property and respond to calls for service to include but not limited to, assaults, criminal mischief, burglaries, disorderly conduct, and traffic crashes on campus property
  • Conduct investigations and write comprehensive reports detailing an incident
  • Enforce state laws and university rules, regulations and policies
  • Unlock and secure campus buildings and facilities
  • Provide safety escort service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors

University Security Officer II (USO II)

Supervisory position within the department. Supervises USO I level. This position is a promotion and filled internally.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to those mentioned below):

  • Supervises USO I level on assigned watch
  • Prepares schedules and assigns tasks
  • Conducts inspection of uniformed personnel to ensure compliance with policy and procedures
  • Prepares and submits daily security report for the watch
  • May assist Director in staff training, development and evaluation, and other operational areas involving security and investigation
  • Patrol campus property and respond to calls for service to include but not limited to, assaults, criminal mischief, burglaries, disorderly conduct, and traffic crashes on campus property
  • Conduct investigations and write comprehensive reports detailing an incident
  • Enforce state laws and university rules, regulations and policies
  • Unlock and secure campus buildings and facilities
  • Provide safety escort service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors
