Full time, Permanent, Location: Pearl City, Band A: $2,828 , to begin January, 2010

Duties: Represents the University, its programs and admission criteria to external and internal constituencies (e.g., prospective students, their families, guidance counselors, alumnae, faculty, staff and community partners). Processes admission applications including transcripts, application fees, test scores and supporting documents. Serves as the initial intake point for face-to-face, written, e-mail or telephone requests/inquires. Creates and processes admissions letters (e.g., acknowledgement, request for additional information) Coordinates the distribution of admissions materials to prospective students. Creates, maintains and coordinates the distribution of the admission welcome packages to all admitted students. Assists with the evaluation of applications for admission; makes recommendations and/or decisions regarding admissibility of prospective students to the University. Assists with interviewing of prospective students, following up with written and telephone communication and/or assisting them with the application process. Assists Residency Officer with basic residency determinations. Assists with the determination of appropriate transfer credits and course equivalencies (determine accreditation, review course descriptions, consult with faculty, etc.) and inputs transfer credits/equivalencies into the student information system. Assists with the coordination of special admissions programs (e.g., Running Start, Early Admit). Assists with data extractions and regular statistical reports to support recruitment and admissions activities, projections, and cost-analysis. Assists with college fairs, workshops and presentations to small and large groups about the University, its programs, admission criteria, financial aid and student life. Coordinates COMPASS prep and testing dates with the Student Services Office and Noeau Center. Works closely with other departments (Business Office, Student Services, etc.) in the conjunction with the admissions and enrollment processes. Provides input for admissions brochures, displays, advertisements and other marketing items. Assists with the planning and execution of campus events such as workshops, orientations and receptions for students and families. Handles matters independently or directs requests/information to appropriate offices. Assists with monitoring and following up with students that were accepted to the University, but did not enroll. Responds to inquiries concerning the transferability of courses from other institutions. May assist in providing pre-admission advising for prospective students and their families. Other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Social Sciences, Education, Business Administration or related field and 2 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for admissions and academic records; or equivalent education/training or experience. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in admissions and academic records typical of an institution of higher education demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with admissions and academic records typical of an institution of higher education. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the admissions process. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Demonstrated computer skills including efficient use of word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Excellent organizational, file management, analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as directed.

Desirable qualifications: Experience with student recruitment, admissions and transfer credit evaluations in a university setting. Experience with presenting information accurately and effectively to small and large audiences. Demonstration of high levels of energy, creativity, flexibility and initiative.

Pay range: Minimum Monthly Salary: Band A: $2,828 Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with training and experience
