New Hawaii State CISO, Vincent Hoang

By MDL on January 20, 2017

Vincent Hoang recently stepped into the role of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the Hawaii State Office of Enterprise Technology Services on December 1, 2016. Hoang is Hawaii’s first State CISO, and is charged with overseeing cybersecurity for the State of Hawaii, including guarding critical IT infrastructure and protected data.

On the subject of his goals for public security, Hoang hopes to work on assessment and monitoring of State systems in order to be more predictive.

“My mission is to help secure the state. One of the largest initiatives is to focus on getting the visibility that’s needed, so we can see what’s happening in different parts of the state. I’m doing an assessment to try to find out what areas need improvement to provide that visibility… What I mean by visibility is improving the monitoring, from the availability side, but also from the security side, so that we can be more predictive, be able to see potential issues and react faster, rather than waiting for when it’s too late.”
